Can You Use Up Your Excess Candle Wax?
Can You Use Up Your Excess Candle Wax?
It’s a question we’re asked a lot: “Can I buy some wicks to use up my leftover candle wax?”
The short answer is no—and here’s why.
Why We Don’t Supply Wicks for Home Use
Every candle we make goes through multiple rounds of testing to find the perfect balance of wick, wax, and fragrance. In fact, we use over 20 different wick types and sizes across our range, because even small changes in fragrance load or blending can alter the wick required.
When you melt down leftover wax—especially if it’s from different brands or mixed fragrances—there’s no way of knowing which wick would be safe or effective. The wrong wick can cause tunnelling, poor performance, or worse, a fire risk.
What This Means for You
- If you have lots of leftover wax, it’s usually a sign the original candle wasn’t well made.
- Mixing different waxes and fragrances together may seem thrifty, but the ingredients aren’t always compatible—and each would have needed its own wick.
- Adding an unknown wick to an unknown wax blend is unsafe, and not something we recommend.
